With no special plans, I’m going to do a little work on the blog. So here I am, sitting at the table with the laptop wracking my brains trying to think of something interesting to write.
I’ll start with this:
New dress for the Christmas night out
I bought myself a new outfit for the Christmas night out. Well, in fact, I bought two outfits. A pair of black trousers which I’d planned to wear with a long-sleeved cream cashmere top I already had and a dark blue dress. The reason I bought the two outfits, is because we were going for an Italian and then off round a few pubs. At the time of buying the clothes, I didn't really know what we’d be doing after the restaurant but suspected we’ll end up in the Northern Quarter. Given the type of people I work with and the type of pub we go to I thought the dress was going to be a bit over the top. From the start, I was pretty sure I’d be wearing the trousers for the night out, but I liked the dress and bought it anyway. There’d be other opportunities to wear it.
The dress, which as I've said is dark blue, is shortish but not short (a couple of inches above the knee) and although not backless, it has a mesh back right down to waist level and long mesh sleeves. Something I really liked about it is that it’s made from lovely thin, clingy soft fabric. Not that I’d ever have worn one with it, it’s one of those dresses that would look ridiculous with a bra, although I realise you see lots of people wearing clothes that I think look ridiculous with a bra.
When I tried it on in the shop I was wearing quite thick opaque tights but knew it’d look good with very sheer black tights or even hold-ups without knickers if I was feeling brave enough. I was also wearing a bra at the time but took it off to try the dress on.
To be honest, from the moment I saw the dress I knew I was never going to wear it for the works night out, and always knew I’d be wearing the trousers, but I wanted it anyway. I've worn it twice since I bought it. Once on a night out with the girls and once with Husband. I wore it with just nice sheer tights when I was out with the girls and commando with hold-ups when I was with Husband.
It looked great with tights (even though it did stick to my thighs because of the nylon tights a bit more that I really would have liked) but the tops of the stockings were too visible through the fabric and spoilt the smoothness of the dress really. So when I wear it in future, it will either be with tights or if the weather is a bit better and my legs aren't quite so white and I’m feeling brave I might try bare legs and wear it with nothing underneath. See how it goes.
Dress sounds really nice. I like the sound of how nice and smooth it was with your tights on, but the outline of the stocking tops turns me on more. Sounds like the perfect dress for either a real tease or a sexy start to a night with hubby by wearing suspenders with it. If the hold up tops show, imagine how sexy the outline of suspenders would be or feel

ReplyDeleteYes, it's a great dress.Just the type I like these days. To be honest, I can't imagine that I'll be wearing suspenders with it any time soon, but I do intend to go without anything under it as soon as I can. It'll have to be a nice place we go to and not just a pub somewhere.
Am sure it will be well worth it when you do. Especially with a nice pair of heels
